Mitt

Mitt has announced, and he recently put out this campaign video. It reminds me of Regan's "Morning in America" commercials.

On "RomneyCare"

I have been trying to make time to post on this subject, which many posit is an albatross around Romney's neck that he will not be able to shake off. But, I just haven't been able to find the time I would need to do it justice. As such, I have decided to post links to the words of others, who apparently have the time and with whom I agree:

  • David French has a good recent article about how health care will actually be a strength for Romney in the 2012 election cycle. What's that you say? A strength? Yes, a strength. I tend to agree and hope he's right.
  • Mitt Romney Central has posted a four part series by Dr. Jeff Fuller.
  • And this extra one.
  • And this one, explaining how Massachusetts had a health care mandate before the 2006 reforms.
  • And this one, discussing why conservatives shouldn't jump to discredit Romney over health care.
  • It also as a pretty good post explaining why Massachusetts care is constitutional and ObamaCare is not.
  • The blog "Evangelicals for Mitt" also has several good posts here and here.
It's also important to remember that the reform is still overwhelmingly popular in Massachusetts. ObamaCare is, understandably, not. One should also remember that Romney's efforts had the support of conservatives and libertarians at the time. The hypocrisy of some of his 2008 supporters becuase of this issue is troubling.

In other Romney news, Mitt had a very successful fundraising day, which will make it harder for the other competitors to keep up.

Nominee Watch

On the GOP race watch: Barbour's out. I like Barbour and think he would have been a competitor. I wonder who he'll support. If Daniels or Huckabee get in, I bet it will be one of them. If not, who knows?

Happy Easter!

It being Easter weekend, I wanted to post this reminder of the "reason for the season." I, for one, am grateful for the events we celebrate this weekend. (Back to politics and current events on Monday.) Happy Easter!
